We’re now a Healthy People 2030 Champion!

SACU is excited to work with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) and join the Healthy People 2030 Champion Program.

Healthy People 2030 Champions are public and private organizations that support the Healthy People 2030 vision. They’re committed to working toward Healthy People’s overarching goals and objectives, and they help improve health and well-being at the local, state, or tribal level. ODPHP recognizes and supports Champions — with information, tools, and resources — as we work to promote Healthy People 2030.

A core part of SACU’s mission in the southern African community is to contribute to the development of our communities. This has included an interest in supporting our community succeed and reach their potential in all facets of their lives – including the health and well-being – through our programs and activities.

Our organization feels that our partnership with the Healthy People 2030 Champion initiative is good fit for the mission, vision and objectives of our organization.

Over the years, SACU has been working with community partners in these areas by helping those in our community that are food insecure, bringing awareness about preventing domestic violence in children and adults, holding fitness or sport events, and engaging in dialogue with our community about topical issues such as COVID-19 related topics.

We’re proud to be recognized by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) as a Healthy People 2030 Champion! The only way to achieve Healthy People 2030’s objectives is to work together to move Southern African communities forward.

Together, we can work to eliminate health disparities and improve the health and well-being of all people!
