Elisa Munthali is a healthcare policy leader and public health expert with over 20 years of experience. Elisa is the former Senior Vice President, Quality Measurement, of the National Quality Forum, a not-for-profit organization in the US that works to catalyze healthcare improvement through quality measurement and reporting. Prior to joining NQF in 2010, Elisa worked at the Maryland Hospital Association, coordinating national quality improvement initiatives for hospitals throughout the United States.
Currently Elisa is the global public health consultant for Health and Rights Education Programme (HREP), Malawi, where she advises HREP’s leadership how best to advance the organization’s mission to promote good health and equal rights for all Malawians through civic education, advocacy, and data-driven policy.
Elisa’s primary research and policy interests are population health, health equity, and social determinants of health. She has served on a number of professional and volunteer expert panels and boards. including serving as past president of the Malawi Washington Association (now the Malawians in Washington Association, MAWA). She is currently a member of the Malawi Washington Foundation’s Board of Directors, a not-for-profit organization that provides comprehensive educational support to marginalized youth in Malawi, and an active member of the Malawi Diaspora Network USA.
Elisa received her Master of Public Health degree in global health promotion from The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, Washington, DC
