This year, SACU’s first Professionals Networking Event was covered on Voice of America’s Studio 7 show twice. The event was covered for VOA Zimbabwe in Washington D.C. but the show aired from Harare to Kinshasa!
The Professionals Networking event is a new addition to the annual Southern African Reunion Weekend which started in 2013. It marked the first time that SACU hosted the event and the first time that a Southern African networking event has been hosted by the Southern African Diaspora in the Washington D.C area. The event brought together about 30 professionals, entrepreneurs and recent graduates who listened to guest speaker, Mercy Chogugudza and also were given a chance to network with each other. She noted that overall, the event received positive feedback from attendees who are looking forward to attending it next year.
