Parenting During A Pandemic Panelist

Eric Rasch is an Operations Manager for the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza in Montgomery County, Maryland; the most populous county in the state and one of the most diverse (flanks Washington D.C.) More than 20 years’ experience serving public, private, and non-profit sector customers and delivering award-winning services to local communities.

He started his career in a non-profit community center that had a soup kitchen to serve the homeless community. At a young age, he was handed the responsibility to oversee that facility. After several years with the non-profit, Eric went to work with the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department. For more than 10 years he oversaw programming and administration work for the department.  Eric continued his public service in Takoma Park, Maryland, where he spent another five years working to make Takoma Park a better place to live, work, and play. Over the years, he has partnered with local, state, and national agencies to improve opportunities for people living in diverse communities. Now the work continues at the Silver Spring Civic Building – where Eric has been leading the operations for the past eight years. He was recognized by the Maryland General Assembly for his contributions to the greater Silver Spring community and his leadership and stewardship of the Silver Spring Civic Building. Harvard University recognized Veterans Plaza as one of the Top 25 Places in the US where ‘community happens’. According to the University of Maryland’s National Center for Smart Growth, the civic center created $39.3M in total economic impact, approximately 325 jobs, and $2.9M in fiscal revenue impact in one calendar year.

When Eric’s not working, you’ll find him spending time outdoors with his family, attending community events in the region and enjoying the downtown Silver Spring area.

Mr. Rasch received a master’s degree in Public Leadership with a specialization in Multi-sector Management from George Washington University. Other credentials include a CPM designation from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), Lean Six-Sigma certification, and a BA from the University of Missouri in Kansas City among others.
