SACU at Africa Women’s Day – UDC
SACU proudly joined UNESCO Center for Peace in celebration of Africa Women’s Day on March 28th, 2025, at Catholic University of America. This year’s theme was, “Accelerate Action: Impact of Immigration on Family Dynamics”. The event brought together women leaders, students, and community organizations to honor the strength, achievements, and resilience of African women across the diaspora.
Representing SACU, Board of Director Naidine Gauldino attended the event and helped showcase our commitment to bringing visibility to Southern Africa and supporting women‑centered initiatives. As part of the cultural showcase, SACU contributed a traditional Angolan dish—bacalhau, a salted cod dish that is a staple in Angolan cuisine. The dish added a meaningful and flavorful touch of Southern African heritage to the day’s festivities.
The UNESCO Center for Peace extended heartfelt appreciation to SACU for our contribution to their 2nd Annual African Women’s Day event, expressing gratitude for both the Angolan dish and SACU’s representation at the celebration. Their acknowledgment reflects the spirit of partnership and community that drives their gathering.
Through participation, storytelling, and community engagement, SACU helped foster meaningful dialogue around empowerment, education, and unity—reinforcing our mission to connect, support, and advocate for Southern Africans in the DMV and beyond.
