A former administrator in the foreign service, Polan helped establish the Botswana community in the USA. For the past few years, she has coordinated various events aimed at bringing the community together. Mimmy’s key achievement was coordinating the 2008 West Coast Conference for BaTswana in the Diaspora, which focused on addressing the scourge of HIV/AIDS that has affected Botswana. Mimmy also organizes the annual Botswana Independence Day celebrations to unite BaTswana and friends of Botswana across America. She is a Co‑founder of SACU and served on the Board as Directors as a Director of Event Coordination & Social Relations for 10 years.
